Observation created over 5 years agoElaine presented the design strategy for the Salesforce integration to the product strategy committee today, and her presentation was thorough, included enough backstory and context for full comprehension without going overboard, and highlighted the rationale for the strategy the partnerships squad is taking on the user-facing side of the application. Elaine did an excellent job of talking through the pros and cons of our current approach and how our new initiative will help improve the user experience for both learners and admins.
She also presented with incredible poise, thoroughness, and confidence. It can be really intimidating to present when there are exec team members in the room, but Elaine set an easy-going tone that enabled good collaboration and back-and-forth discussion.
Creating a presentation that tells a cohesive story for non-product people, with enough compelling data (but not too much), and in a way that invites informal but productive conversation is NOT EASY. Elaine made it look easy today, which is why it's important to call it out!
I was also personally impressed that she mentioned she practiced it! I love that we are modeling the behavior we want to see in the world, and embracing practice as a part of normal, good business operations.
